"The idea for The Myriad had been brewing since about 1997, with Tretola loaded down with boxes of items that would eventually end up in the store. She even set up a prototype for several months in 2000 just to test the idea with friends and mark time until she found the right location.
After she had almost given up, she found the space on Hoff Avenue, which is in the guest house of a home she and boyfriend Travis Arnold, 23, share. Arnold, a welder, crafted the metal outdoor gate to the shop, and helped convert the yard from "just a dirt hole" to a cozy patio."
"It's been said that you could spend 24 hours in the Louvre Museum in Paris and not see everything it contained.
Though much smaller than the grandiose museum, The Myriad art shop Downtown may require a similar amount of time for visitors to discover its many hidden treasures.
Tucked away from the main Fourth Avenue thoroughfare, The Myriad, at 118 N. Hoff Ave., is part thrift store, part art consignment shop.
It caters to those who think nothing of spending a few hours rifling through racks and shelves if it means possibly emerging with a priceless find."
